Compassion Shining through a Veil of Tears |
I have been creating artwork for a long, long time... Since 1968 I've exhibited photographs and paintings in solo and group shows and have taught Asian painting and philosophy in colleges and art schools since 1980. The study of the Traditional Arts in Kyoto, Japan on a Thomas J. Watson Foundation IBM Fellowship, has influenced both my aesthetic sensibility and method of working. While sitting in the Ryoanji stone and sand temple garden, I realized that art had the great power to communicate spiritual essence. I am interested in beauty pushed to where it expresses something larger: a spiritual quality, a stillness, an inner light--like the tip of a flame at the place it dissolves into the air. My current works in Digital Photography are enhanced in Photoshop, some more, some less, and printed in Ultrachrome Ink on Archival paper. |
