Using a combination of digital composition, scanning, drawing and photography, I create lustrous, meticulously crafted ultra chrome prints on archival enhanced matte and watercolor papers that invite people to visually taste and appreciate natural images on a variety of levels. As formalist studies they evoke the close-up nature studies of Edward Weston and Georgia O’Keefe. Influenced by work of several twentieth century surrealists, I create images that possess a unique “edge”—stemming from my visual metaphors and themes of decadence and the fine line between life and death in our post-modern world, as well as from my techniques of enhanced composition and color. |
