Modern day surrealism explores alternate realities and subconscious ideas. Many factors come into play, like dreams, individual perceptions, and modern urban life. The viewer should look at the work and find their own perception of what they see. Everyone's unique vision sees something different based on their life experiences and their observation of the art. The idea is to capture a really deep moment in time and portray it in a way that can be looked at over and over again to let the viewer find new interpretations of the moment. Influenced by work of several twentieth century surrealists, I use different tools including but not limited to: watercolor, digital imaging, ink drawings, as well as oil pastels and oil paintings and 3D modeling, to create a vision of something that can't be seen in ordinary life. |
